Oblique void Universe in a nutshell

[personal profile] kay_mulan posting in [community profile] poetry
There is no nothing
for what we call nothing
which is really space
is definately something
emptiness void abyss
all something like glass
from lights point of view
as we are as light to space
we offer eachother no resistance
and yet are as real as eachother
transparent matter to light is space
and perhaps as light is refracted
bent and reflected through glass
and transparent crystal
perhaps so too time, which is
nothing more than the motion of
matter through space also unknown
to our perspective, is also reflected, bent
and reflected on surfaces of spacial
objects creating multiple and changing
dimensions and timelines just beyond our grasp and view

and matter, is but tight loops
of energy caught in the mass of
thier own spin, and energy
but a wave and a wave
tantamaount to a sound
and what if that sound be the voice of God?
and we say but the vibration
is the matter and the void
and yet originated beyond either
and what be beyond that? be that God?
or is there nothing beyond nothing?
no nothing, an infinite soup
of voids as resistance free solids
housing thier own equivacle energy and matter
or something completely as of yet unseen
be there as yet some undiscovered medium, energy or substance
beyond in perceptive ability all
these forementioned things, be that
unknown, the foundation of the known
and so unknown revealed and known
knows and reveals new, or at least
unnoticed unknown without limit, eternal
forever and always every and all things
or be all these things God
or consciousness assuming different
roles in a great universal play
like children playing
and do children not play in
joy and love
so are we not all love and joy?
endlessly playing together
playing out all possible possibilities
presently, now, right now,
now here, right here, nowhere, here now
loves endless imagination pictured
be it possible that all
existance exist within the
imagination of consciousness
of life itself, of all life
each and every no matter what and where
and what if all these forementioned things be alive
and conscious on some level
so what then
be life a dream
of existance or a choice
whats next?
its all immaginary lines, remove
them and all life becomes as
vital to one as ones favourite limb
ergo all existance or at
leastthe knowing of its existance
is a perfect circle the circle
of life thats it.
Endless imagination of the heart in love
and what then of eternal serenely tranquil peace,
and what is peace but a sense of space
some sort of oblique void

Too Much Time and Space

Life used to be so simple when Earth was the hub
in a Universe of twinkling stars that revolved around us.
The moon rose, the stars circled, the seasons came and went.
People were born, lived three-score years and ten,
Then died and were buried, remembered with legacies.
But now we're told Earth is a speck of dust
One of nine planets in our solar system circling a mediocre star, our Sun,
which is one tiny sand grain on an endless beach of stars in the Milky Way,
which is one of billions of galaxies in the vast, endless space of the Universe
stretching unimaginably way out there, beyond eternity and comprehension.

Humans have strode the earth for 200,000 years of so,
Life has been here for 3.9 billion years,
The Big Bang, that conceived the Universe, occurred 13.8 billion years ago.
So human existence is a tiny pico-second in the lifetime of the universe.
So how does it help to know humans are a mere skerrick in time and space,
In a universe so old and vast it belies comprehension,
how does knowing this help in any way?

It's a lovely cool day outside, at least until I wore myself out.  I took the clippers and cut brush alongside the patio.

EDIT 8/23/17: I went back out and moved a bit of brush from the savanna, and also trimmed grass around three saplings there.

NAME: tarobun
AGE: Twenty-three (ee-ee-ee-ee, in the tune of Taylor Swift's "Twenty-two").
ABOUT ME: Software developer in the Silicon Valley, who is surprised and happy at her occupation but struggles with managing the normal day-to-day of adult life. I live with my mom and sister in a Chinatown basement and used to play Neopets a lot as a kid.
ADJECTIVES: dysfunctional, verbose, ruminative, reserved/introverted, stoic. Wow, wish I could think of some more positive ones!
INTERESTS & HOBBIES: Ice skating, reading sci-fi/fantasy, anime/manga (particularly josei manga), arts + crafts (crochet, watercolor paints), roller skating, visual novels, watching Let's Play videos, old jrpgs and indie games, Neopets dailies
I don't actually engage in most of my hobbies that often these days, aside from ice skating and possibly rollerskating. :( What can I say, I'm not such a motivated person... Lately, I've been watching some tv shows: GoT, Insecure, Bojack Horseman, and Rick and Morty.
LOOKING FOR: Random musings, journals whose authors have similar interests
WHAT I'LL JOURNAL ABOUT:
  • Long, ruminative posts which may exhibit anxiety or depression but hopefully some that just talk about what's been going on in my life.
  • References to coding, software engineering, and the Silicon Valley because it's a part of my life.
  • Some short, mundane updates about my current status.
  • Dating, whenever that happens.*
  • Maybe some posts discussing media or literature I've been consuming (books, anime, manga, tv shows, movies).
  • I might write about politics or culture if there's something I need to debrief about.**

POSTING FREQUENCY: Probably not that frequent -- I find it hard to manage my time and therefore find it hard to find time to write lengthy, unwieldy posts. But when they come, they might be long to make up for it! ;)
CONFESSION: I've never gotten a tattoo and don't have any piercings***, BUT I secretly want to get a cartilage piercing and double lobe piercing. You know, so I can connect a chain from my helix to my lobe**** :D and just put some studs in my lobe in the other ear.
I'd also love to get a tattoo, only I can't think of any image of enough significance or appeal to me that I'd want to put it on my body. :( And I don't want to just have a random tattoo for the sake of having a tattoo.
It's a confession because I have a very straight-laced appearance to-date, by the way.
OTHER: If you can't tell, I'm a fan of footnotes.

* I don't go on dates often.
** I'm a feminist and believe in social justice (natural consequence of attending a small liberal-artsy women's college).
*** The standard lobe piercings I got at 8 healed up after I left them alone when they got infected.
**** But I won't actually do this because I hear cartilage is a pain to pierce due to slow healing, and I hate fuss.

Good news includes all the things which make us happy or otherwise feel good. It can be personal or public. We never know when something wonderful will happen, and when it does, most people want to share it with someone. It's disappointing when nobody is there to appreciate it. Happily, blogging allows us to share our joys and pat each other on the back.

What good news have you had recently? Are you anticipating any more?

This poem came out of the August 15, 2017 Poetry Fishbowl and is presented here as the free epic for the fishbowl reaching its $200 goal. It was inspired by prompts from [personal profile] siliconshaman and [personal profile] we_are_spc (Fallon/Isaiah). It also fills the "enemies become friends" square in my 7-31-17 card for the Cottoncandy Bingo fest and the "AU: Crossover/Fusion" square in my 4-3-17 card for the [community profile] origfic_bingo fest. This poem belongs to the Schrodinger's Heroes project.

WARNING: This poem contains some controversial topics. Highlight to read the warnings, some of which are spoilers. In this poem, alter!Alex is Harley Quinn, a conflation which may bother some readers. It also features dimensional travel, impaired consent and mental functionality, forceful interventions to address an abusive relationship, vehement objections to well-meaning help, attempted assault, use of a previous name for constructive but nonconsensual purposes, allergies, reference to vigilante activity, reference to Quinn's past abusive relationship, communication failures, confusion, mixed signals, awkward family dynamics, and other challenges. If these are sensitive issues for you, please consider your tastes and headspace before reading onward.

Today is mild, sunny, and breezy.  We got some rain last night, so I went out to pull field weeds from alongside the patio and strip garden.

I've been seeing lots of butterflies today.  There was a monarch around the barrel garden and various small butterflies when I was weeding.

EDIT 8/22/17: I went back out and pulled more weeds farther along the patio edge and by the birdgift apple tree.

BBC Pidgin service don start today

This is so exciting!  BBC has introduced a new pidgin service to make news more accessible to African viewers.  Click any of the article thumbnails to see an example.

Because of my linguistic coprocessor, it's very easy for me to hack a pidgin if I know any of its main antecedents.  So for instance, I can clock "don" as the past-tense marker: "BBC Pidgin don start today" = "BBC Pidgin started today."  Take a look at the new materials and see what bits of grammar and vocabulary you can identify.  \o/

Meanwhile over in Terramagne, I bet their BBC offers a whole bunch of different overlays like this.  France probably does too, because they spawned a lot of colonial languages, including the Haitian French that Saraphina speaks.  Hmm, I wonder how long it'll take Aidan to catch onto that resource, because he's not much of a TV junkie.  But an hour of French-national Haitian French overlay would be good practice for them, and a nice change from the much scarcer pure Haitian programming.

Modern medicine is juuuust starting to figure out how important food is, including its influence on mood.  The food you eat, and its quality, can have a huge impact on your mental health and brain function.

One reason I've been writing down a lot of T-American food choices and linking similar local recipes is because they're a lot farther along the path of using dietary choices to support health.  That's mostly replicable here.  You can see it with Shiv in particular, how much better he feels now than several months ago.  That's not all due to the extra psych support he's getting; it's also because he's eating better.

The general fund currently contains $60.  Everyone is eligible to vote in this poll.  I will keep it open until at least Tuesday night. If there's a clear answer then, I'll close it.  Otherwise I may keep it open a little longer.

We currently have three open epics.  "The Inner Transition" belongs to Polychrome Heroics: Berettaflies and needs $308 to be complete.  "The Higher a Monkey Climbs" belongs to Polychrome Heroics and needs $161 to be complete.  "Two Foxes" belongs to Polychrome Heroics: Iron Horses and needs $169.50 to be complete.

In return for a beautiful day and a truly stellar performance from the Sun God and Moon Goddess, I am posting one of my eclipse poems for free.  You can see some of my eclipse photos here.

"Only in the Gift"

I have seen the moon-shielded sun
and the Father God winking
as he turns his one wide eye
back toward the waiting world

a reminder that we live,
moment by moment,
only in the gift of
his infinite light.
